OptoNews: Legacy system data on the Internet of Things?

matt_newton_iot_presentation_320w.pngLook around and think about the useful data currently hiding in your legacy systems and equipment.

How could that data help your company?

Maybe it's process data from manufacturing lines, performance data from machinery, or status data from remote installations.

If you could get it to the right people, would it help you improve processes, perform better maintenance, make better business decisions?

Opto 22's Matt Newton jokes about how valuable his refrigerator's webcam is—or not—and takes a good look at why and how industrial equipment can be brought to the Internet of Things to provide real value.

Watch Matt's Open IoT Summit presentation, Bridging Open IoT with Legacy Systems on YouTube. (Video quality is not so great, but the content of the presentation makes up for it!)
