Helpful tips for your groov EPIC or RIO terminal connectors

Learn how to properly use your groov EPIC and groov RIO spring clamp terminal connectors.

How familiar are you with groov EPIC controllers or groov RIO edge I/O modules?

Do you know how to correctly use the spring clamps in the terminal connectors fitted on groov EPIC and RIO modules?

Opto 22's Product Support team often receives this question, so here is a step-by-step video explaining and showing the wiring process.

The video provides a guide on the proper use of spring clamps in terminal connectors, emphasizing the importance of using the correct gauge of field wires, which should be between 14 and 28 gauge.

You'll also see options for preparing stranded wire, including twisting, soldering, or using a ferrule. You should insert wires only into designated holes and open the clamps using a 2.5mm flat blade screwdriver or the Opto 22 spring clamp terminal tool.

Remember—how you insert the clamp tool is crucial to prevent damage, and the flat blade tip must be aligned with the clamp's release hole. Once the clamp is fully open, the wire can be inserted, and the tool should be removed.
