The Ignition community is the most innovative and collaborative group in the automation industry, and ICC is where they gather every year to learn and share about Ignition. Whether you're a new user or a seasoned integrator, you'll find opportunities to network and learn from industry professionals.

This year's conference returns to downtown Sacramento's SAFE Credit Union Convention & Performing Arts District. As in previous years, this Ignition event promises several keynote speakers, exhibitor sessions, Discover Gallery use-case scenarios, table talks, and technology panels. You'll gain:

  • Insider insights to improve the business value of your systems
  • A look at technologies that help you unify OT/IT, scale quickly, and improve security
  • Knowledge of how automation professionals are solving today's problems
  • Information to help you succeed with Industry 4.0
  • Professional connections

Where will you find Opto 22?

Be sure to stop by booth #3, where several members of Team Opto will be ready to demo products and address your specific application questions or challenges. Get ready for real conversations that can lead to better ideas and solutions.

ICCbooth2025day2

In addition to groov EPIC and groov RIO product demos (using Ignition) at our booth, please plan to join us at the following presentations during the conference:

Tue Sept 22, 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM PDT

Workshop: Collect, Model, and Democratize OT Data With Ignition Edge
Meeting Room 11

Ignition Edge brings the power of Ignition directly to the edge of your network and offers a host of options such as data visualization, collection, and processing for devices in the field or for OEM equipment. In this hands-on and interactive virtual workshop, you’ll learn how to collect data from PLCs and devices (using the simulation driver), process and model the data into UDTs, and publish the data securely to upstream applications like Ignition and Ignition Cloud Edition using MQTT and Sparkplug. Register to attend.
Presenter: Garrick Reichert (Opto 22 Sr. Application Engineer)

Wed Sept 23, 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM PDT
Technology Ecosystem Showcase:
Close the Gaps: Connect any asset to Ignition with Opto 22’s groov EPIC & RIO
Gateway Theater

Do you have critical assets operating outside Ignition?

When machine health, energy use, and environmental conditions stay dark, you find out about failures, wasted power, and downtime only after they've cost you. In this live demo, watch Opto 22 groov devices pull data off those assets and connect them to Ignition over MQTT Sparkplug, OPC UA, and other open standards—no proprietary middleware, no rip-and-replace.

Through real-world examples, you'll see yesterday's invisible assets go to work: monitoring machines, tracking energy, and feeding your Unified Namespace. You'll leave knowing how to bring more of your plant into Ignition, so you can be ready for the analytics, automation, and AI projects that you're already planning.
Presenters: Benson Hougland (Opto 22 VP ), Garrick Reichert (Opto 22 Sr. Application Engineer)

Wed Sept 23, 2:45 PM - 3:30 PM PDT
Exhibitor Session: Unleashing Edge Intelligence in Remote Mining Operations
Grand Theater

What happens to your mining operation when the network goes dark and the water starts rising? In underground mining, a single pump failure can flood a level within hours, endangering personnel and costing millions in equipment damage. If your architecture still relies on traditional PLC racks rather than modern edge-based controllers, you're digging blind.

The right architecture unleashes everything you've been missing. Chris Raymond from Surety Automation and Dan White from Opto 22 will show you how they did it for a major gold producer—cutting hardware costs by 40%, integrating advanced diagnostics over digital protocols, and using Ignition Edge's store-and-forward engine to survive the harshest environments beneath the Earth's surface.

Thurs Sept 24, 10:00 AM - 11:15 AM
PDT
Build-a-Thon
Grand Theater

If you're an ICC veteran, you know the buzz at the conference ultimately ends up being about the Build-a-Thon. Watch two system integrator teams compete live on stage to solve an application challenge with full access to Ignition and a tight timeline!

This year's Build-a-Thon promises more surprises and challenges for the two system integrator teams that make it to the final stage. For the fifth year in a row, Opto 22 engineers are busy designing and building the sets for this year's EPIC adventure.

This OptoBlog post will help you relive some of the previous Build-a-Thons, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the demo panels built specifically for the Ignition Community Conference Build-a-Thon.
