The groov System Configurator tool debuts updated features to help you map out your automation strategy.
Calling all automation and controls engineers, technicians, system integrators—and even our own Opto engineers! Would you like to research and design systems that use both groov EPIC controllers and groov RIO edge I/O modules?
Now you can configure groov EPICs (including processors, licenses, power supplies, I/O modules, and chassis), groov RIOs (all three types), and groov software in a complete system. The interactive groov System Configurator tool is all you need. It provides technical guidance so you can start experimenting with your system designs online.
With beta testing complete and customer feedback implemented, it's time to try out all the new features this recently updated website tool offers.
See how everything fits together in a networked architecture, making sure your system is cohesive and ready to run smoothly.
But first, get the most out of the groov System Configurator by logging in to your MyOpto account.
To take advantage of all the configurator features, be sure you are logged in to the Opto 22 website before navigating to the System Configurator.
A quick tip when getting started...click the Show Instructions option in the upper right corner so detailed descriptions and explanations appear under each of the heading tabs (Build EPIC/RIO System, Network View, Review and Send to Cart). You'll get a better understanding of how each of these sections works.
This latest version of the tool makes it possible to configure a system of groov hardware and software—then place these items within the context of a network diagram.
Keep this in mind when using the tool:
- Configuring a groov EPIC offers a vertical or horizontal layout of the chassis; both layouts can be downloaded as scalable vector graphics.
- The groov RIO section lets you explore signals and produce wiring diagrams, downloadable as scalable vector graphics.
- A network diagram displays the Opto 22 products within a network infrastructure. Display the Opto hardware and software as you want in a network diagram, and add notes to represent independent components in the network architecture.
- Icons represent various types of applications (databases, Ignition Server, SCADA, ERP, etc.).
- Included network components like connections, wireless connections, MQTT brokers, other manufacturers' controllers, and field devices can be associated with Opto 22 and other I/O units.
- A special network line shows when EPIC and RIO segmenting or port forwarding features are being used.
- You can reuse saved systems in other configurations.
- Any system can be used as a template for a new system.
You'll find a Configurations management page in your user website profile that shows your saved configurations and options for sharing and managing them. You can edit, save, download, upload, and share a configuration. You can also send a configuration to your cart, where you can review all parts and purchase specific units or the whole system.
Questions? You can also send your saved configurations to our engineering team for review. Our pre-sales engineering support is always free!
