If you're into technology, you may already have a smart thermostat or refrigerator or lights in your home. That's fun and sometimes even useful.

But what's the real value of the Internet of Things?

The real value is in accessing the useful data currently locked in automation systems and equipment: the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

In this video you'll meet a system integrator who increased revenue for his client by 16%—an unheard-of revenue jump for the client's industry—by connecting 30-year-old wind turbines to the Internet for monitoring and automated control. 

You'll also explore one of the key issues of the IIoT: getting Information Technology (IT) personnel and automation (or Operations Technology, OT) personnel to work together.
