SNAP-B3000-ENET reaches end-of-life

It's the end of an era for Opto 22's original SNAP Ethernet I/O

First introduced in 1998, the venerable SNAP-B3000-ENET was the genesis of our SNAP Ethernet I/O line. Genuinely industry-changing when we first launched it, now, we regret to announce that Opto 22 is nearing the end of production for this flagship legacy product.

As you know, we always continue producing older products as long as technically possible (see Opto 22's product philosophy). But unfortunately, we are once again faced with the unavailability of essential parts that make up the original Ethernet I/O. Although limited inventory is still available, SNAP-B3000-ENET will become obsolete once current stock is depleted.

SNAP-B3000-ENET_pThe good news is that there is a drop-in replacement available: SNAP-PAC-R1-B. The SNAP-PAC-R1-B rack-mounted controller mounts on a B-series rack so you can keep your existing rack and I/O. The R1-B is substantially more powerful and can act as a controller as well as an I/O processor.

Like the SNAP-B3000-ENET, the SNAP-PAC-R1-B provides communication options including 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, PPP over a modem connection, Modbus/TCP, OPC, SNMP, and SMTP, and adds the capability of a RESTful API.

Another bonus: two independent, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet network interfaces are included on each SNAP-PAC-R1-B. These interfaces have separate IP addresses and can be used to segment a control network from a company network.
