Get Enterprise WiFi and several other updates in the latest free firmware download of groov RIO.
If you have been getting some friction from your IT department about connecting any of the groov RIO family to your corporate WiFi network, this firmware update is for you!
Just like the groov EPIC firmware update 3 weeks ago, we have added WPA-2 Enterprise WiFi connectivity to the groov RIO MM1, MM2 and EMU (Energy Monitoring Unit).
This enterprise WiFi configuration complements the existing LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) authentication options, which have been part of the RIO for a long time.
Specifically, we've added support for:
TLS
TTLS-PAP
TTLS-CHAP
TTLS-MSCHAPv2
PEAP-MSCHAPv2
You will find the settings on the networking setup page of groov Manage.
This 3.6 firmware also includes a slew of package updates and bug fixes.
Let's take a look at some key updates:
- Node-RED updated to version 3.1.7. (You can read all about the new features in Terry's blog.)
- CODESYS Controller upgraded to 3.5.20.0
- Ignition Edge 8.1 MQTT Transmission and Opto 22 driver modules updated to version 4.0.21
- Java JDK To 8.0.402
And you'll find some important fixes:
- Node-RED Dashboard user API key doesn't produce a -401 error.
- Deleted and sticky OPC UA tags and values in the Data Server are updated.
- MQTT payload compression won't cause frequent rebirth messages
The software engineers here at Opto 22 worked with our Product Support Group (just like our firmware updates, our support is also free!) to make changes to the log files that the support team and customers use. The three main improvements are: using millisecond time stamps, changing the level of data logged, and ensuring that log files are not truncated.
Our documentation team has also done a fine job of working with the engineers to compile the changes/updates in the firmware release notes, which can be downloaded from our website.
Any of the groov RIO family firmware can be downloaded from one webpage—just click on the model you wish to upgrade.
Till next time,
Cheers Mate,
-Ben
