OptoNews Tech tip: Mini-lessons on PACs, PAC Control

Posted by Jean Femia on May 21, 2015 9:27:00 AM

PAC Project Automation Software SuiteYou already know that the OptoForum is a great place to get your questions asked and answered.

It's also a great place to learn about using tables, subroutines, and pointers in PAC Control; built-in protocols like SNMP in SNAP PAC controllers; and more.

The new forum called 101 Mini-Lessons gets you started learning about a variety of subjects:

- Need a command that isn't in PAC Control? You can create your own command

- Would you like to have an Opto 22 SNAP PAC controller send SNMP traps to other software you have? Here's how to set it up.

- How could a friendly neighborhood controls engineer make sure that the 3 Bears' porridge is neither too hot nor too cold? Why, very efficiently with pointers, of course.

- What's a communication handle, and how does it relate to serial communication, Ethernet communication, and writing to files on your network?

- What's the difference between a string variable and a string table, and when would you want to use tables? This introduction to tables answers your questions.

More mini-lessons will be added, so be sure to check back. Or better yet, subscribe to this forum so you won't miss additional lessons: in the forum, click Forum Tools and choose Subscribe.
