Got the groov View app for your iOS or Android device? If so, be sure to get the latest update. Here are some new features you might have missed.
When you're looking at your groov interface, swipe right to see a list of your groov connections. The active one is in green. It remains active, so you can just swipe back to view it again.
On the groov list page, you'll see a new Settings button in the upper left. It opens a Settings page with several options:
We're delighted to announce the second-generation groov Box, GROOV-AR1. With solid-state fanless operation, a tiny footprint, and operating temperature of 0 to 70 °C (32 to 158° F), the new groov Box hosts the same easy-to-use groov software.
With groov you can build mobile operator interfaces for just about any automation system and securely use them on virtually any smartphone or tablet.
It's the mobile app you build yourself, without programming or coding.
If you have a groov Box, we recommend you install the latest groov Admin update, version R1.570.35
This update is in response to the June 5 OpenSSL security advisory. To make sure you're as safe as possible using groov, we've immediately applied the necessary fixes.
The new update guards against a man-in-the-middle attack, where a remote attacker with a man-in-the-middle vantage point on the network might be able to decrypt or modify traffic between the computer you use to administer the groov Box and the groov Box itself.
By now most of us have heard about the Heartbleed bug in OpenSSL. This bug makes it possible to steal information like usernames and passwords that are normally protected by the secure sockets layer (SSL).
We've seen a lot of interest in one particular new feature in the new groov version 2.1: the IP video proxy.
The proxy makes it a lot simpler to include live video from remote IP cameras in your groov mobile interface. You can track physical access to remote installations, monitor hard-to-reach equipment, see how much it's snowed (or how little it's rained), and so much more using live video over the Internet.
The Video gadget's new reverse proxy service option automatically handles all the work of connection to IP cameras over the Internet, so it's just as easy to include live video from outside your facility as from inside.
What's New?
- Faster development time. Browse tags from your OPC tag server in real time to link them to groov gadgets. No need to import them all.
- Webpage links in your groov interface. For example, link to a company webpage showing KPIs.
- Vertical sliders. Place slider controls and range/level indicators vertically to save screen space.
- New video options. Set update/refresh rates for individual IP cameras. If you monitor video over the Internet, set up camera communications automatically with the new reverse proxy server.
- Faster initial load time. Download your groov project to mobile devices faster, with a smaller download size.
