Join us at the CODESYS Tech Talk

Posted by Janice Colmer on Feb 15, 2021 8:30:00 AM

The upcoming 5-day virtual event is your chance to learn, engage and discuss CODESYS tech innovations and engineering in real-time.

CODESYS is a free, platform-independent IEC 61131-3 programming tool for industrial automation systems. And if you use groov EPIC controllers, you already know EPIC supports CODESYS as a control programming option and runtime engine. CODESYS GmbH is one of Opto 22's valued Technology Partners, so we jumped at the invitation to be a part of their annual user conference.

Learn the power of SSH on groov EPIC

Posted by Janice Colmer on Feb 12, 2021 8:30:00 AM

Terry Orchard is back in his studio to give you a video overview of the Secure Shell Access (SSH) feature on groov  EPIC.

Whether you're already using Opto 22's groov EPIC or have been researching its features, it's important to note the extensive programming options it comes with. You can use the easy flow chart-based PAC Control, the familiar IEC 61131-3 compliant languages of CODESYS, or build Node-RED flows to move data.

But, did you know EPIC allows you to build your own custom applications using languages you know like Python, C/C++ and run them on an open, Linux®-based operating system? That's the topic of Terry Orchard's latest video, part of the new Opto 22 Developer series.

Technology Partnership helps Corso develop leading edge solutions for customers

In our latest OptoPartner video, Alex Marcy, President of Corso Systems, talks about how his company was remote before that was required. This made it easy to find the best talent, regardless of location, and gave his company the ability to help customers across the globe. Nine years later, this has allowed Corso to successfully complete integration projects in a wide range of industries including food and beverage, consumer goods manufacturing, oil and gas and mining among others.

Modern Wastewater: Waterford DPW

Posted by Josh Eastburn on Feb 1, 2021 11:22:49 AM

One community makes the leap into MQTT-based utility management

Formally organized in 1834, Waterford Township is located geographically in the center of Oakland County, Michigan, USA, and is home to over 72,000 residents. It is known regionally for its 34 lakes, from which it earns its name.

However, in the public utilities industry, Waterford is known for its leadership and persistent innovation in water/wastewater management. The Department of Public Works has been featured previously in an Opto 22 case study, and a generation later, DPW is working on another landmark project.

What Does an IIoT Focused S.I. Look Like?

Posted by Arun Sinha on Jan 28, 2021 6:00:00 AM

OptoPartner video from Enginuity features IIoT based technologies

Many automation systems integrators are expanding beyond what we might consider “traditional” skill sets into technologies that may typically be the purview of IT professionals or software developers. While instrumentation, controls and SCADA obviously play a critical role in digital transformation, bridging the gap between OT and IT can require additional tools like Node-RED, REST APIs, databases, pub-sub communication protocols and Linux Shell programming chops.
